Pharmacological Action

A herbal remedy. It contains tannins, organic acids, essential oil, triterpenoids (quinovic acid, tormentoside), phenols (pyrocatechol, phloroglucinol, pyrogallol), phenolcarboxylic acids (in the hydrolyzate: gallic, caffeic, n-coumaric, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic); catechins: (+)-catechin, (-)-gallocatechin, (-)-epigallocatechin, (-)-gallocatechin gallate, (-)-epigallocatechin gallate; the flavonoid kaempferol; the anthocyanin glucoside cyanidin; lipids (higher fatty acids: lauric, pentadecanoic, palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic).

It exerts anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, astringent, tonic, anti-burn, and antimicrobial action. It promotes the formation of a protective film that shields tissues from chemical, bacterial, and mechanical influences. It reduces capillary permeability and has a vasoconstrictor effect.

Pharyngitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, tonsillitis, gum bleeding, gastritis, enteritis, enterocolitis, diarrhea, dysentery, ulcerative colitis, gastric and duodenal ulcer, cholecystitis, cholangitis, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis (including ascites), hemorrhoids; gout, rheumatism; nephritis; bleeding (including uterine, from gastrointestinal organs); colpitis, vaginitis, cervical erosion; eczema, atopic dermatitis, diffuse neurodermatitis, skin cracks, burns.

Dosage Regimen

The method of application and dosage regimen for a specific drug depend on its form of release and other factors. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the compliance of the dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Herbal raw material

Orally, as an infusion or decoction – 30 ml 3-4 times/day; as a tincture – 25-30 drops 3-4 times/day. For liver cirrhosis – 50-100 ml of infusion 3 times/day 2 hours before meals, daily, for 1.5-2 months and prophylactically – 2 times a year for 1 month during the autumn-spring period.

Externally, for mouth rinsing, douching, lotions, wet dressings, applications – as an infusion and decoction.

For lubricating burns and skin cracks, 1 tablespoon of crushed rhizomes is boiled in 1 glass of unsalted butter for 10-15 minutes, the warm solution is filtered.
