Therapeutic Category

Dietary supplement – a source of probiotic cultures for the restoration and maintenance of normal vaginal microflora

Properties

Provag contains a lyophilized suspension of live lactic acid bacteria that have a positive effect on the microflora of the female urogenital system due to their strong probiotic properties.

The physiological bacterial flora of the vagina is represented mainly by lactic acid bacteria (genus Lactobacillus). These bacteria produce hydrogen peroxide, which has antibacterial properties, and lactic acid, which is responsible for maintaining an appropriate pH level. Normally, vaginal secretions have an acidic environment, which prevents the growth of pathogenic microorganisms that contribute to the development of urogenital infections. A decrease in the number of lactic acid bacteria increases the risk of developing vaginal infections.

The microbiological balance in the vagina can be disrupted by antibiotic treatment, contraceptive use, during pregnancy, menopause; in individuals who frequently visit swimming pools and perform hygiene procedures, such as frequent vaginal douching and the use of tampons.

Daily supplemental intake of Provag helps maintain the normal physiological bacterial microflora of the vagina and the appropriate vaginal pH. Provag can also be recommended for use in cases where the natural microbiological balance is already disturbed and a change in vaginal pH level is possible.

Provag is recommended for use in the following cases

  • As a daily supplement to maintain normal physiological urogenital bacterial microflora and the appropriate vaginal pH level;
  • As a supportive agent for restoring physiological urogenital bacterial microflora and the appropriate vaginal pH level after the elimination of pathogenic bacteria and fungi;
  • As a supplement during and after treatment with antibacterial, antitrichomonal, and antifungal drugs;
  • As a supplement during and after treatment with metronidazole and co-trimoxazole;
  • As a supplement for secondary and recurrent infections of the urogenital system;
  • In the premenopausal period (during menopause);
  • During and after menstruation;
  • For women before and after urogenital organ surgeries;
  • For women who frequently visit swimming pools, solariums, travel, and use jacuzzis.

The product contains saccharides and a sweetener. When taken in large doses, it may have a laxative effect.

The dietary supplement cannot replace a varied diet.
