CORTICOSTEROIDS for external use.
It prevents the marginal accumulation of neutrophils, reduces inflammatory exudation and lymphokine production, inhibits macrophage migration, reduces the intensity of infiltration and granulation processes, and has local anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and anti-allergic antiexudative effects.
Local reactions: acne, steroid purpura, epidermal growth inhibition, subcutaneous tissue atrophy, dry skin, hypertrichosis or alopecia, hypo – or hyperpigmentation of the skin, skin atrophy and striae, telangiectasia, perioral dermatitis, hair follicle inflammation, secondary infection.
Systemic effects: edema, arterial hypertension, reduced resistance (resorptive effect when applied under an occlusive dressing).
Allergic reactions: rarely-urticaria or maculopapular rash.
From the sensory organs: glaucoma, cataracts (when applied on the skin of the eyelids).
A small amount of cream is applied to the affected skin surface 1-2 times a day, easily rubbing.
Do not apply the drug under an occlusal dressing and carry out treatment without a break for more than 2 weeks.
Long-term use should be avoided. With prolonged use on large areas of the skin, the frequency of side effects increases and the risk of edema, arterial hypertension, hyperglycemia, and reduced body resistance increases.
External use of clobetasol propionate may cause suppression of the pituitary-adrenal system. This is expressed in a decrease in pituitary ACTH production, a decrease in the level of cortisol in the blood, and the development of iatrogenic Cushing’s syndrome. These changes disappear after discontinuation of treatment. The function of the adrenal cortex should be regularly monitored by determining the level of cortisol in the blood and urine after stimulating the adrenal glands with ACTH.
If an infection develops in the area of application of the drug, appropriate antibacterial or antifungal treatment should be prescribed. If the symptoms of infection persist, it is necessary to stop using Clovate until the infection is completely cured.
It is necessary to avoid applying the drug to the skin in the eyelid area in patients with closed-or open-angle glaucoma, with cataracts due to the risk of exacerbation of the disease. On the skin of the face, in the axillary and inguinal areas, the drug should be used only in cases of special need, given the increased absorption and increased risk of side effects (telangiectasia, perioral dermatitis).
Use with caution in patients with atrophic conditions of subcutaneous fat, especially in the elderly.
Clovate can enhance the effect of immunosuppressants and weaken the effect of immunostimulating drugs.
