Pharmacological Action

The mother tincture is prepared from the whole plants of Urtica urens L. (dwarf nettle). It contains

  • Formic and acetic acids, which have diuretic properties;
  • Chlorophyll, which has antiatherogenic properties;
  • Histamine, acetylcholine, and serotonin, which have antirheumatic action, and are also primarily responsible for the irritating nature of this plant.

In allopathy, the plant is used for its hemostatic, diuretic, and anti-inflammatory action.
