Pharmacological action

The active ingredient of the drug is iron protein succinylate, which is a complex compound where 3-covalent iron atoms are surrounded by a semi-synthetic protein carrier, which does not cause damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa. The main function of iron is to deliver oxygen to the tissues. Iron is a part of myoglobin, hemoglobin, iron-containing enzymes-cytochorms, is responsible for electron transport, acts as a catalyst for oxidation reactions, is responsible for hydroxylation and other metabolic processes.

Indications

Iron deficiency conditions: latent and manifest forms of iron deficiency anemia (with acute or chronic blood loss, poor nutrition, insufficient absorption of iron in the gastrointestinal tract, infectious diseases) at any age, during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis, aplastic, hemolytic and sideroblastic anemia, chronic pancreatitis, cirrhosis of the liver.

Side effects

Epigastric pain, nausea, constipation, diarrhea.

How to take, course of administration and dosage

of Ferlatum is taken orally, before meals, adults-1-2 vials (an amount equivalent to 40-80 mg of trivalent iron) per day in 2 doses; children-1.5 ml/kg / day (an amount equivalent to 4 mg/kg/day of trivalent iron) in 2 doses. Course — no more than 6 months (except in cases of ongoing bleeding, menorrhagia and pregnancy).
